No it is not just you. My Husband and I have not done the deed for a long time now. Mind you there would need to be a crane involved if we did attempt it, so too much faf.

Seriously I think you will find lots of my fellow RA sufferers will also say that sex drive can be affected.

Not sure if it's the sex drive or the energy drive but either way you are not on your own.
It's easier to settle for a cup of tea and a cuddle!RollEyes

yep its there but it takes 2 to tango,my thoughts are that the other half may be scared to cause a bit of discomfort, make time to talk,it does wonders to air concerns always worked for me and late hubby as he was not pain free himself, where theres a will theres a way and cuddles are always nice, all the best, dorothy

Know this conversation ended in Feb, but Im new to site so excuse my new addition to this post...

I was diagnosed in Feb so RA is still new to me and Im still coming to terms with all the different areas of my life that RA appears to affect. I live on my own with my daughter but have been "dating" my boyfriend for the past 3+ years. We only get to see each other at weekends so this is an important part of cementing our relationship - however, with the fatigue, pain and last weekends sickness (reaction to Tramadol) we appear to be drifting a little. He is not one for talking about his emotions which makes things far harder....

However, I pushed for "the talk" and he confirmed his side - he is scared of hurting me when he knows im not honest about how much pain I am in, specially as it often hurts just to hold my hand.... we have agreed to try and be more honest about how we feel, and agreed to take it one day at a time - yet one more hurdle RA has made me try to jump.

Holiday due in 2 weeks tho - so with painkillers already packed, warm sunshine guaranteed - who knows what could happen ;-)

For me, R.A. began and my sex drive upped and left me.
(But my partner stuck by me!) We only met 11 months before the illness started.
I don't know whether age has anything to do with it, I was 37 or 38 when I developed R.A.
I love my partner very much and we have been seeing each other for nearly 19 years.
I remember reading that your sex drive increases for women in their 40's and 50's but it
certainly hasn't for me.
If you think about it, for someone of my age, 55, it hardly makes biological sense anyway!

At least I have a lovely Grand daughter!

No doubt other people will have had different experiences of R.A and sex drive.
I can only relate my own experience of it.

Warm wishes,

FionaRollEyes

Hope your holiday goes really well Smile and that you enjoy the romance!!!

"sex drive"?
Think mine went into reverse and sped off like a bull in a china shop! Laugh

I'm 28 and whilst I can hear the "tick tick" in my head for a child...my body laughs at my brain and asks if it's considered the chance of an immaculate conception!

Hi Tang - love your sense of humour! Don't give up hope - all things are possible. Once your RA, etc are controlled you'll be able to resume normal life - there's quite a few ladies who visit here who have had babies since getting RA - but not surprisingly they're a bit too busy to drop in every day. But honestly, most people do respond well to the right meds and if there's not too much joint damage then life is just as much fun as it was pre-RA (sex life included Wub )

When I'm flaring I don't have the energy to so much as brush my hair, let alone get frisky. The rest of the time though I'm good to go Laugh

I think the key for us has been finding ways that we can make its work for us. The experiments along the way were fun, either because they were a success or so hilarious. I can't count how many times I have got stuck LOL
